QIXO is committed to protecting your privacy.
We will only use your information to enhance your experience and to better
serve you. All personally identifiable information is kept confidential.
We will not disclose to a third party any information that identifies
you personally without your consent. As we may change this privacy policy
occasionally, please check this page periodically for updates.
The Information We Collect.
We collect and store information you provide to us voluntarily.
This information can be categorized as personally identifiable information
such as your name and email address or demographic, non-identifiable
data such as gender, age, occupation or state and zip code. For example,
when you become a QIXO member, we ask you certain required information,
such as your email address and a password of your choice. At this
time, you may choose to provide to us supplemental information, such
as travel preferences, mileage programs, credit card billing information,
and favorite leisure activities. At any time after you become a QIXO
member, you may provide additional information or change the information
you provided earlier by accessing "My Profile." In addition, we may
store your viewing and purchasing history at QIXO, in order to tailor
our services more closely to your needs. QIXO uses aggregate data,
as opposed to personally identifiable information, for lawful purposes,
including but not limited to measuring the Web site activity and developing
new features. This aggregate data will not include your name, phone
number, address, social security number, or credit card information.
IP Addresses
Our web servers automatically collect limited information about your computer's
connection to the internet, including your IP address, when you visit
our site. (Your IP address is a number that lets computers attached to
the internet know where to send you data-such as the web pages you view.)
Your IP address does not identify you personally. We use your IP address
to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our website.
Your IP address is used to gather only broad demographic non-identifiable
information.
Cookies
To make our site more responsive to the needs of our visitors, we use
a standard feature found in almost all web browser software, called a
"cookie." A cookie is used to assign each visitor a unique, random number,
similar to the idea of an anonymous user ID that resides on your computer.
A cookie is a merely a small piece of data stored by your browser on your
hard drive or in your computer memory. The cookie doesn't actually identify
the visitor, just the computer that a visitor uses to access our site.
Unless you voluntarily identify yourself (through registration, for example),
we won't know who you are, even if we assign a cookie to your computer.
The only personal information a cookie can contain is information you
voluntarily supply. Cookies cannot retrieve personally identifiable information
from your computer, read data from your hard drive, or harm your computer
in any way. For instance, by setting a cookie on our site, the user would
not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while
navigating our site. Of course, you can set your browser not to accept
cookies, but you may not be able to take advantage of the personalized
features enjoyed by other visitors to the site.
Our advertisers may also assign their own cookies to your browser, a
process that we don't control. Once you become a QIXO member, we place
a cookie on your hard drive that allows us to recognize you, and provide
you with a personalized environment.
Third Party Collectors of Information
To make our site, www.QIXO.com, more valuable to our visitors, we offer
some features in conjunction with other providers. Our site contains links
to other websites whose privacy policies we do not control. Our privacy
policy only addresses the use and disclosure of information we collect
from you. To the extent that you disclose your information to other parties,
different rules may apply to their use or disclosure of the personal information
you disclose to them. To the extent that we use third party advertisers,
we use all reasonable efforts to ensure that they adhere to their own
privacy customs and policies. Once you leave our servers (you can tell
where you are by checking the URL in the location or address bar on your
browser), use of any information you provide is governed by the privacy
policy of the operator of the site you are visiting. Since we do not control
the privacy policies of third parties, we encourage you to ask questions
and seek information before you disclose your personal information to
others. You should always exercise caution when disclosing sensitive personal
or financial information in unsecured areas of a website. Notwithstanding
the foregoing, we must transmit certain required information you provide
us to third party web sites in order to complete purchases for you. We
have no control over what happens to the information that is passed onto
a third party web site.
Security
Our website takes every precaution to protect our users' information.
When users submit sensitive information via the website, your information
is protected both online and off-line. When our registration/order form
asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number
and/or social security number), that information is encrypted and is protected
with the best encryption software in the industry - Certificate-approved
128-bit SSL. While on a secure page, such as an order form, the lock icon
on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft
Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to unlocked, or open, when
you are just 'surfing'.
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online,
we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line.
All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned
above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information
to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer
service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable
information. Our employees must use password-protected screen-savers when
they leave their desk. When they return, they must re-enter their password
to re-gain access to your information. Furthermore, ALL employees are
kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Every quarter,
as well as any time new policies are added, our employees are notified
and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they
can do to ensure our customers' information is protected. Finally, the
servers that we store personally identifiable information on are kept
in a secure environment, behind a locked door. However, as effective as
encryption and other security technology is, no security system is impenetrable.
Unfortunately (and notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this policy),
we cannot guarantee that all of your communications and other personally
identifiable information will never be disclosed in ways not otherwise
described in this privacy policy. By way of example, we may be forced
to disclose information to the government or third parties under certain
circumstances, or third parties may unlawfully intercept or access your
transmissions or communications. Further, we can (and you authorize us
to) disclose any information about you to law enforcement or other government
officials as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate.
Therefore, although we use industry standard practices to protect your
privacy, we do not promise, and you should not expect, that your personally
identifiable information or communications will always remain private.
However, we will only permit authorized officers of the court to access
available and relevant information in three situations: (i) to comply
with valid legal process such as a search warrant, subpoena or court order,
or (ii) to protect our rights and property, or (iii) in special emergencies
when we believe physical safety is at risk.
Choice/OPT-OUT
In order to provide you more customized and additional services, we or
our partners may send you advertisements, promotions, or marketing materials,
via e-mail. Our site allows users to opt-out and not receive future communications.
If you would rather not receive these e-mail messages, please contact
us at privacy@qixo.com, and write
"OPT OUT" in the subject heading.
Correct/Update
The web is an evolving medium. If we need to change our privacy policy
at some point in the future, we will post the changes here. Of course,
our use of the information gathered while the current policy is in effect
will always be consistent with the current policy, even if we change
that policy later. If you have any questions about this privacy statement,
the practices of this site, or your dealings with this website, you
can contact us at privacy@qixo.com.
Your questions and comments are always appreciated.
QIXO is committed to protecting your privacy. We encourage you to send us comments or questions regarding our privacy policy.
